Case Details
Giorgi Akhobadze, 44, a Georgian doctor and civic activist, was acquitted of serious drug charges linked to his involvement in pro-European protests. He was arrested on December 7, 2024, while returning home from a rally on Rustaveli Avenue. Prosecutors charged him under Article 260, Part 6. Akhobadze maintained that he had no drugs and repeatedly said they were planted on him by police because of his activism. On August 6, 2025, the Tbilisi City Court acquitted Akhobadze due to insufficient evidence.
